Not a food tour where someone explains what dumplings are. This is a wet market walk — we go in at 7am before the good stalls are sold out, eat things you won’t find on any restaurant menu, and understand how Shanghai actually feeds itself.
Budget for food: about ¥60. Dress code: don’t wear white.
What’s included
- Early morning walk through a local wet market (not a tourist market)
- Breakfast across 4–5 different stalls
- Real conversation with vendors (I translate)
- A list of what to buy and bring home
Good to know
- Starts at 7am — this is non-negotiable, the best stuff is gone by 9
- Food costs not included in tour price (~¥60 per person)
- Not for people with serious food allergies — too many unknowns
- Absolutely for people who want to understand a city through its stomach
